Do you have difficulty eating certain foods or drinks without pain? Have you wondered “what can I do to reduce the sensitivity?”woman experiencing teeth sensitivity Creekside Dental

We get this question every day, and luckily, we have the answer!

Sensitivity can stem from different sources: gum recession, grinding or clenching (oftentimes while sleeping), decay, or using whitening products. Recent dental work can temporarily result in sensitivity too.

Depending on the cause, there are several ways to treat sensitivity. Over the counter products include sensitivity toothpaste (e.g. Sensodyne) and fluoride mouth rinses (e.g. ACT). Your hygienist can apply professional strength desensitizing agents after a cleaning that can provide relief for up to six months. For people that grind their teeth, a lightweight mouth guard can be made to wear during the day or just at night while sleeping.

At your next visit, talk with your assistant, hygienist or dentist about your sensitivity. We will help you determine the cause or your particular sensitivity and create a treatment plan to help you get some relief!
